Priscilla Davis | Sew Fun Parties & More

Priscilla has been the owner and operator of sew fun! parties and more since March of 2015.  sew fun! is a sewing studio dedicated to elevating the lost art of sewing and design and keeping it ALIVE!  Sewing is made fun when it is taught in creative ways like: parties, summer camps, workshops, classes, and more.

Prior to becoming a business owner, Priscilla was a school administrator and Family Consumer Science (formerly Home Economics) teacher. With over 18 years of experience in education, Priscilla has enjoyed working with and mentoring children from age pre-K to grade 12 in the Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools and Union County Public Schools systems.

Priscilla’s passion for sewing, began when she was 5 years old, when her grandmother taught her how to hand sew. In the 4^th grade she was already an entrepreneur! She used her sewing skills to make Barbie doll clothes and sold them during recess. While this is just a peek into how Priscilla got started, sewing has always been woven into the fibers of her life. So, I guess you can say, she was destined to be doing exactly what’s she doing now!

Now, she gets to share her love for education, sewing, fashion, and design every day! She’s always creating projects and writing directions for how to make it.  She teaches weekly sewing and fashion design classes during the school year and camps during the summer.  If attending weekly classes aren’t your thing, she offers a bi-weekly adult class and private lessons. She also teaches during parties and workshops, which are an excellent introduction to sewing.

Because the language used in commercial sewing patterns can be compared to a foreign language, Priscilla searched and found a curriculum that was easier for students to understand. However, because some directions were not consistent with how she wanted to teach and many of the patterns were outdated, Priscilla created her own curriculum in 2018. She began using her workbooks (Beginner, Teen, and Crafts) for her sewing classes in September of 2018. Her easy-to- read/simplified directions, allow her students to gain experience reading and comprehending pattern directions, before using teacher selected commercial patterns in class or independently.

Priscilla has been married to Ron for 33 years and they have 3 adult children and 3 grandchildren.
