Nina grew up in a military family in Fayetteville, NC and attended Appalachian State. With her BST degree in biology, she started teaching high school science. Nina moved to Orange County in August 1981 to teach at Orange High School. I taught 36.5 years in public schools (38.5 years total). Nina taught many different students in a variety of science classes. She is a National Board Certified Teacher AYA, physics (2006, 2016) and was the 1997 Presidential Awardee for Excellence in Science Teaching for North Carolina. Nina started FIRST Robotics Competition Team 587: The Hedgehogs, in 2001 and continues to serve as a lead mentor of this award winning team from Orange and Cedar Ridge High Schools today. Nina has a MAT degree from NC State. Since retiring from full-time teaching Nina has founded a company called 2 DayesScience. The company’s mission is to help families to spend quality time together, while they explore the natural world with activities and materials that allow them to learn the science behind natural phenomena. The focus is on 8 to 11 year olds. The company’s tag line is: Rediscover Wonder. Explore and See the World Through New Eyes!™
