Although Katie was born in the mountains in Asheville, NC, she grew up in Eastover, NC, a small town east of Fayetteville.  In 2000, Katie moved to Chapel Hill to attend the University of NC at Chapel Hill where she studied business and was accepted to and graduated from the Kenan Flagler Business School undergraduate BSBA program.  Since moving to Chapel Hill in 2000, Katie has not left the area.   While finishing school, she started working as a teller in downtown Chapel Hill at BB&T in 2003.  From there, she developed a love of banking and has not left the industry since.  After graduating from UNC, Katie moved on to a Relationship Banker role in the same BB&T office Downtown Chapel Hill.  She met and started dating Charlie Walker, her now husband, in 2006 at BB&T where they both worked.  In 2007, Katie moved just outside of Chapel Hill to Pittsboro and opened up a BB&T in Pittsboro as the branch manager.  In this role, Katie assumed many positions on local boards including the Chamber, the downtown Partnership, and the Chatham Partnership for Children.  In 2013, Katie moved back to Chapel Hill as the leader in  her old BB&T office Downtown Chapel Hill.  Amid all of this, she had 2 wonderful little boys, Chandler (age 10) and Coleman (age 9).  In 2015, Katie decided to make a change and accepted a position as a Regional Sales Manager for Fidelity Bank, a small, local community bank based out of Fuquay Varina, NC.  Most recently, Katie moved into a role of Market Executive at Fidelity, serving Pittsboro and surrounding areas and helping small business customers up and down the 15-501 corridor from Pittsboro to Durham in addition to leading a team of bankers in those areas.  Katie still resides in Chapel Hill with her husband, Charlie, two boys, and three male dogs, Cooper (a 5 year old French Bulldog), Franklin (a 2 year old French Bulldog), and Eli (a 5 lb, 15 year old Chihuahua).  She serves as the President of her Rotary Club in Pittsboro and can be found cheering on the Tar Heels when she’s not working, playing with her children, or serving her community through Rotary.
